There is this saying I always use, “ when you row someone else across the river, you get there too.” That quote really does sum up the effects of helping others to succeed and the result of a deliberate attempt to look back and give a helping hand.
We live in a hugely competitive world, one often marred by “aggressive takeovers” and predatory loans. For some, leaving others behind is a deliberate action considered to be ‘maintaining your competitive edge’ or ‘eliminating the competition.’— All exploits of the modern business era. Or is it? Caught in the bottomless trap to outdo each other, some entrepreneurs fail to consider the possibility that in giving back you can actually achieve more?
When our marketing and brand development company, Ethnic Vision Inc was faced with the reality of several emerging businesses failing due to poor marketing strategies we decided to act. We saw it as a perfect opportunity to give back. And for two years we worked to create TEN (The Entrepreneurial Network) to help emerging businesses be able to better market themselves and achieve their sales goals. Our constant interaction with these businesses showed us that they needed the help. So our focus became one of using our knowledge and resources to help these businesses become successful without having to worry as much about the cost. Amazingly, with this new focus on giving back, we exposed the business to the great potential of moving forward by taking others further. Today not only are we giving back through TEN but we are moving ahead and taking others with us.
